When living in De Coulissen, you can create your own house and be truly part of the landscape. De Coulissen is an exclusive housing project, consisting of 10 unique villas that are part of a larger area development called ‘de Duivenvoordecorridor’. In this area, which is situated between Leidschendam-Voorburg and Voorschoten, emphasis is on the landscape. It constitutes the linking pin between the dunes in Wassenaar, including nature reserve Meijendel, and the polders of 'het Groene Hart'. De Coulissen is situated in a scenic landscape designed by landscape architect Andrew van Egmond. 

Creating strategic sightlines and by positioning the residences in a smart way, Andrewvan Egmond developed a cohesive plan and created a separate domain with in a larger area. Furthermore, he created a wadi and a water feature to increase biodiversity and to create a more sustainable environment with lots of plants and animals. The wadi is used to collect excess rainwater and facilitates water infiltration into the soil. By restoring the nearby landscape park Duivenvoorde, surrounding Duivenvoorde Castle, the natural vitality of the area was also enhanced.

By using natural materials to build the unique villas in De Coulissen, the villasblend into their surroundings. Zeinstra Veerbeek Architecten created four different basic designs for the villas. Future residents can choose a plot with one of the designs. They can then fully customize thebasic designto their liking.
